Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences: Vennemann is retiring

Prof. Dr. Norbert Vennemann has retired from his active time in elastomer research and education on 1 September 2019. Since 1992, Vennemann held the professorship for plastics technology and testing at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences.

In addition to his lecturing activities, Vennemann and his working group conducted research into the properties of rubber compounds with new types of fillers as well as on thermoplastic and dielectric elastomers. In this way he allowed numerous students to write theses on these topics and thus acquire not only theoretical but also practical knowledge on the material group of elastomers.

In 2017 Vennemann received an honorary doctorate from the Prince of Songkla University in Thailand. As a member of the German Rubber Society (DKG – Deutsche Kautschuk-Gesellschaft), he was an honorary member of the Research Advisory Board. Prof. Vennemann has developed the TSSR-Meter, an innovative device, used to perform conventional isothermal relaxation measurements as well as Temperature Scanning Stress Relaxation (TSSR), an anisothermal stress relaxation measurement method (AISR method). This method can be used to characterise the mechanical-thermal properties of elastomers.
