Alfred Stern, currently Executive Vice President (EVP), was appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Borealis, effective from 2 July 2018. In his position as EVP, Stern is currently responsible for the Polyolefins business and Innovation. He succeeds Mark Garrett, who has decided to leave the company after serving more than eleven years as CEO. Stern joined Borealis in 2008 as SVP Innovation & Technology, coming from E. I. DuPont de Nemours. He was promoted to the Executive Board of Borealis in July 2012.
