Fakuma 2018: Albis presents new high-flow Alfater TPV

Hamburg-based Albis Plastic will be showcasing products and exhibits from long-term partners BASF, Covestro, Ineos Styrolution, Lanxess, LyondellBasell, Eastman, Solvay, MGG Polymers, and MBA Polymers, as well as its own portfolio of complimentary own brand products. The company said that main focus at the show will be on recycling, healthcare and lighting.

“We have many new and exciting developments following market trends particularly in recycling, health care, and lighting,” says Albis CSO Ian Mills. “We’re really looking forward to presenting them to our customers and business partners. This comprehensive selection of products will help us make good on our promise to deliver the perfect solutions every time for our customers’ specific needs.”

New Alfater TPV

The company announced that it has news on Alfater XL. The all-new 3EF0010 Easyflow series, in Shore hardnesses of A50 to D40, is a deep-black material with very good flowability. This property makes it well-suited for thin-walled components, tools with long flow paths, or complex geometries. The series offers excellent weather resistance, fulfilling up to two annual cycles of the Florida Kalahari test pursuant to PV 3929 and PV3930. It also adheres very well to filled, reinforced, and un-reinforced polyolefins like PP.

Other product highlights

With Alcom MED, Albis has expanded its product portfolio to include tailor-made compounds for health care applications such as medical products, pharmaceutical packaging, and diagnostic applications. These products are based on a variety of different polymers and include colouring as well as a variety of fillers. Besides the technical features of its products, Albis also offers benefits such as recipe uniformity, dedicated change management, and regulatory support.

Alcom LDDC, the newest addition to the company’s Lighting product line, created in response to the latest developments in vehicle interior design. The product can be used to create high-gloss lacquer surfaces that can be back-lit in any color, resulting in high-quality symbols and displays on seamless functional surfaces in any color.

In addition, the company expanded what is already a market-leading lighting portfolio to include Makrolon polycarbonate materials from Covestro.

Ultramid Deep Gloss from BASF is a special polyamide that combines the chemical resistance of semicrystalline polyamides with the high gloss and depth of view of amorphous plastics. For more complex applications, the Ultramid Advanced N line of compounds offers very good mechanical properties at higher temperatures, increased resistance to moisture and aggressive media, and some of the best dimensional stability ever achieved in polyamides. Ultramid Vision is a semicrystalline polyamide that allows light to pass through largely unhindered, yielding transparent yet highly durable components. Its balanced profile of properties makes it perfect for chemically demanding environments, which is why it is used in a variety of industries for visual controls, illumination, and lighting design.

By purchasing Wipag Deutschland GmbH, who specializes in the manufacture of injection-moldable carbon fiber-based compounds, Albis has increased its portfolio of recycled products. PP CF compounds feature very good rigidity and low density, saving weight, cutting cost and increasing efficiency compared to highly filled fiberglass-reinforced PA types. Albis is proud to add Quality Circular Polymers (QCP) range of recycled products to its portfolio. Owned by LyondellBasell and Suez, QCP is a manufacturer of renewable polymers consisting of post-consumer PE and PP branded as Hostalen and Moplen QCP, and is part of LyondellBasell’s existing Moplen PP and Hostalen PE product families—the products are targeted at many applications including cosmetics and toiletries. Albis also said, that it is expanding its Altech Eco product portfolio to include a recyclate-based PET+PBT blend compound. This compound can be modified with fillers and additives, and represents a sustainable, cost-effective alternative to prime PBT and PA6 compounds without sacrificing mechanical properties or exceptional surface quality.
