Gummiwerk Kraiburg: Dr. Frieder Vielsack takes over R&D

At Gummiwerk Kraiburg, Dr. Frieder Vielsack has taken over as head of the Research and Development department effective September 1, 2021. In his new position, he is responsible for leading the department with a focus on further expanding Gummiwerk Kraiburg’s strength in developing customer-specific material solutions and innovative products for new fields of application.

„My fascination with elastomers has grown through my research and development work in recent years. That’s why I’m looking forward to putting my passion into practice in my new role as division manager at Gummiwerk Kraiburg,“ said Dr. Vielsack with regard to his new role.

Before joining the TPE division of Gummiwerk Kraiburg – which later became Kraiburg TPE GmbH & Co. KG – in 1999, Vielsack studied chemistry at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, where he received his doctorate in 1998. During his career at Kraiburg TPE, Vielsack held various positions in sales and development.

Vielsack was initially responsible for international customers as a developer, key account manager and team leader before becoming a product manager responsible for building up Kraiburg TPE’s portfolio at a global level. In 2008, he took over as head of the „Consumer & Medical“ sales team to prepare the company’s entry into the demanding medical market. Two years later, Vielsack returned to the R & D department and was responsible for numerous developments and innovations in the field of thermoplastic elastomers over the past years. Most recently, as Head of Advance Development, he developed a technology to shift the performance of thermoplastic elastomers toward that of rubber materials. This resulted in the so-called thermoplastic elastomer hybrids (TEH).
