Borealis has announced the appointment of Lucrèce Foufopoulos-De Ridder to the Borealis Executive Board as Executive Vice President Polyolefins and Innovation & Technology, effective 1 January 2019. In this capacity, she succeeds Alfred Stern, who previously held this position and was appointed Borealis CEO in July 2018.
Foufopoulos joins Borealis after a varied career of more than 20 years in the chemical and petrochemical industry. Most recently, she served Eastman Chemical as Vice President & General Manager of the Rubber Additives business unit, after joining the company in 2014 in the role of Corporate Vice President Marketing & Sales, leading a company-wide commercial transformation initiative. Foufopoulos is also a board member of tank storage company Royal Vopak. Prior to joining Eastman Chemical, Foufopoulos held a variety of positions at prime multinationals, including Dow Chemical, Rohm and Haas, Dow Corning and Tyco.
Her responsibilities have included general/business leadership, commercial, marketing and strategy leadership, as well as research and application development across a broad range of industries spanning transportation, healthcare, food + nutrition, electronics, construction, oil and gas and water treatment, in Belgium, France, Switzerland, China and the USA. She holds a European Master’s degree in Polymer and Composites Engineering from the University of Leuven, a Master’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering from the University of Ghent, both in Belgium, and executive business education from Insead in Paris, France, and IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland. She is married and holds dual Belgian-Swiss citizenship.
