Feica: 2019 European Adhesive & Sealant Conference and Expo

The association of the European adhesive and sealant industry Feica announced that 650 participants from 34 countries attended the 2019 European Adhesive & Sealant Conference and Expo to discuss the industry’s sustainable supply chain management, market drivers and trends, innovative solutions and technological advancements.

The event brought together manufacturers, formulators, suppliers, distributors, service providers and members of the academic community to Dubrovnik in Croatia over the course of three days. The conference and expo, which took place from 11 to 13 September 2019, is one of the most important events for the adhesive and sealant industry in Europe, providing insights into all the key issues impacting it, such as sustainable growth, innovation and digitalisation. One of the main threads through Feica 2019 was how innovations in adhesives and sealants can help solve some of the biggest issues facing the world by improving product efficiency and circularity, thus creating a more sustainable society.

This year’s Conference Business Forum, titled “Driving growth in volatile times through sustainable supply chain management”, illustrated how the industry’s pace of change continues to accelerate and how sustainability and profitability can go hand-in-hand. By working closely with partners up and down the supply chain, from raw materials suppliers to end-users, businesses can become even more agile in dealing with a rapidly changing world and remain, or become, leaders in their field.

The conference’s presentations gave delegates a chance to attend informative sessions relevant to their own particular spheres of interest. Topics ranged from “looking for perfect adhesion” to “sustainable packaging and application system for the future of adhesives in a circular economy”. The Feica Seminar, open to all Feica members, addressed “A Business Perspective on Regulatory Challenges”. At the expo, 50 exhibitors showcased their latest developments.

The “Feica European Adhesives and Sealants Market Report 2019 – 2024” was launched at the event and is now for sale on the Feica website. The market report provides market statistics from an independent source with analysis that is based on primary research. It consists of market knowledge obtained by direct interviews with the adhesives and sealants industry (formulators, raw material producers, equipment suppliers) and analysed by Smithers. The geographic scope of the study encompasses Europe, including Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) plus Turkey. The European region is split into 16 regional markets, which are analysed by market segment and product category.

Feica President Dr. Boris Tasche (IVK – Industrieverband Klebstoffe e. V.) brought his two-year term to a conclusion at Feica 2019. He stated: “The Feica Conference and Expo has always sought to address the most important industry issues, and 2019 was no exception. It has again been a great conference”.

Incoming Feica President Roland Albers, Senior Vice President Europe at Bostik, said that he was proud to have been elected President of Feica. He added: “Adhesives and sealants are everywhere and therefore contribute enormously to the economy. A strong association ensures that our industry continues to thrive and create value through all the global changes and different economic climates.” Feica’s board also elected a new Vice-President: Guido Cami (President of Avisa).

The 2020 Feica Conference & Expo will be held at the Warsaw Marriott in Poland from 9 – 11 September 2020. Registration will open in March 2020.
