Applications for the prestigious Polyurethane Innovation Award are now being accepted through 15 June 2020. “Bringing innovative products and technologies to market is no easy feat, as the journey often takes years of thought, determination and perseverance,” said Lee Salamone, Senior Director, CPI. “Then, there are those who go above and beyond to raise the bar, bringing about significant transformation to change the modern world and our everyday lives with improvements to polyurethane chemistry, products or practices. CPI looks forward to recognizing today’s polyurethane industry pioneers whose innovations will create a more sustainable tomorrow.”

Carbon was selected as the 2019 Polyurethane Innovation Award recipient. The company was honored for its DLS technology, which is utilized in the Riddell SpeedFlex Precision Diamond football helmet liner. Through partnering with Riddell, Carbon used athlete data in Riddell’s proprietary database of 5 million head impacts to digitally print a next-gen helmet liner that precisely forms to the athlete’s head, giving the athlete maximum protection.

According to the CPI, all entries for the 2020 Award are required to represent innovations that have not been previously submitted for the Innovation Award. Eligible innovations include finished products, initiatives, training or education programs, or processes and processing equipment that have entered the market, for the first time, between 16 June 2018, and 15 June 2020.

To enter the awards program, companies or individuals must submit an application no later than 5 p.m. EDT on 15 June 2020.
