Arlanxeo: Spotlight on new mobility solutions

The synthetic rubber producer Arlanxeo announced that it will participate in its second K fair under the theme “future mobility”, as trends like electrification and autonomous driving will fundamentally change the way of transportation in the next decade. According to the company, already today it sees new means of transportation emerging, alternative ways of mobility sharing and usage as well as new kinds of energy generation and storage, all responding to the need of a more sustainable and responsible future mobility.

Those trends are met with new demands for e-mobility driven solutions from the synthetic elastomer industry, requiring new materials with lighter weight, better thermal characteristics, reduced noise, optimal vibration performance and lower energy consumption. Arlanxeo said it is putting its full focus on addressing these requirements, designing, testing and providing elastomer solutions in collaboration with its customers and partners, which leads to a more sustainable, comfortable and safe way of both individual and public mobility in the future.

Donald Chen, CEO of Arlanxeo, said: “While not always being visible to the broad consumers, our high-end rubber solutions are a key enabler of new technologies needed to make future mobility a reality. With innovation as essential part of Arlanxeo’s success and strategy, we are working closely with our customers in meeting their needs in electrification and automation. This year´s K fair presents a great opportunity to showcase our offerings and further explore cooperation opportunities with our clients and partners in the automotive and transportation industry.”

Specifically, visitors at K 2019 will be able to see the company´s solutions in three core areas, which will be showcased at the stand and demonstrated by Arlanxeo experts:

  • Arlanxeo will highlight new mobility solutions at K 2019 (Source: Arlanxeo)

New tyre solutions, including polymer architectures which improve tyre compounds to help achieve reduced rolling and abrasion resistance while maintaining safety aspects like grip. These developments can support the extension of the range and decrease energy consumption of vehicles, meeting the needs of e-mobility.

  • New energy storage solutions, as high-performance batteries will play a key role for the breakthrough of electric driving, making them a focus of Arlanxeo’s research on innovative rubber grades in lithium-ion batteries that ensure shorter charging times, more power and greater range. This also includes new thermal management solutions to secure batteries from overheating.
  • New performance applications, as new rubber solutions are needed to address the emerging application demands in light of e-mobility progress. Examples are more heat and flame-resistant cables for charging, lighter weight profiles, better dampening and anti-vibration systems to improve comfort in electrical cars, effective and safe brake systems or new performance wiper blades serving the needs of camera based autonomous driving in the future.

Beside its own presence, Arlanxeo will also again be hosting the Rubber Street located in front of its stand on an area of over 500 m2. Overall aim is to improve the visibility of the rubber and thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) business at K 2019. Arlanxeo proudly continues to support this initiative, which was founded in 1983, in collaboration with the German Rubber Manufacturers Association wdk (Wirtschaftsverband der Deutschen Kautschukindustrie) and Dr. Gupta Verlags GmbH as media partner.
